Is It Good?
WARBOUND #4 is mean, gritty, nasty, and filled with rage-fueled action. If you’re a fan of super fights that pull no punches, you’re in for a treat with this issue.
The beauty of this issue from Dupree and Martinez is the unapologetically raw action that dominates the issue from cover to cover. In issue #3, Warbound initiated a prison escape that involved setting Abraxas, a powerful beast of a man, free as a distraction. Now, Warbound is faced with the consequences of his actions and decides not to set a monster free in exchange for his own freedom.
On the flip side, this issue’s minor weak point is the lack of forward progress on the plot. The contents of this comic are effectively one long fight scene. If you’re fine with reading a comic that’s all spectacle and without much substance, you’re going to enjoy this issue. If you want more depth to your story, you’ll have to adjust your expectations.
The art is fantastic. Evoluzione is one of the few micro-publishers around with consistently great art that stands up to the Big 2. Shrivastava’s action is exciting, the characters are detailed and powerful, and Kamaputra’s coloring is exquisite. You’ll struggle to find any indie publisher with better art.

Check out our Warbound #3 review to find out how Abraxas got loose.
We begin with total chaos. Abraxas, now free of his sedatives and in full control of his powers, lays waste to prisoners and prison guards alike who stand in his way. Realizing the terrible toll of his prison break plan, Warbound vows to put Abraxas down before he can escape.
What follows is a titanic battle between an unstoppable monster and an immortal hunter. We conclude the issue with a helping hand, rage beyond control, and arriving backup.

Final Thoughts

WARBOUND #4 delivers a knockdown, drag-out brawl for the ages when Warboundvows to stop a prison break he helped start before innocents are killed. The action and violence are raw and gritty, and the artwork is simply stellar. That said, the issue is effectively one long fight, so the story doesn’t move forward by much.
