Is THE ENFIELD GANG MASSACRE #3 Good?
Chris Condon’s taut Western story makes a few more moves on the chess master between outlaw and lawman when Enfield hatches a plan to get (most of) his people to safety. Chris Condon’s latest chapter piles on the tense anticipation as the cat-and-mouse game of death continues.
When last we left the Enfield Gang, Ranger Ely and his posse took the high ground adjacent to Enfield’s camp, preventing anyone from escaping. Now, Enfield finds cover behind a makeshift barricade while he hatches a plan inspired by an old heist with his gang that may just save lives.
As a bonus to the Old West standoff, Sheriff Edgar receives a bit of information from one of the townspeople that just may cast new light on Bill Barley’s murder. Whether or not the information can save Enfield’s life remains to be seen, but the Sheriff’s discovery adds a new layer of urgency that heightens the already high tension even more.
What’s great about THE ENFIELD GANG MASSACRE #3? Despite the simmering pace of the comic, Condon keeps readers on the edge of their seats with tightly coiled tension that makes you feel like you’re holding your breath. The plot development is slow, but the scenes are large and move briskly, so you feel like you’re getting your money’s worth.
What’s not so great about THE ENFIELD GANG MASSACRE #3? In fairness, the plot’s pace may be a downpoint for some. Condon makes up for it with spectacular scene work, but readers who crave forward progress may feel frustrated.
How’s the art? Jacob Phillips’s character acting and camera angles are the best around. In every way you could imagine, THE ENFIELD GANG MASSACRE #3 looks like a high-quality film adaptation.

Check out our THE ENFIELD GANG MASSACRE #2 review to find out how the Enfield gang got pinned down with nowhere to run.
We begin with Sheriff Edgar repulsed at the bloodshot without a proper arrest and day in court. Ranger Ely scolds the Sheriff for his cowardice, but the Sheriff wants no part in a vendetta killing, so he gives up his badge and heads back to town.
Enfield hopes to get the women, wounded, and children to safety by using an old ploy he and his gang used on an old heist. Enfield intends to fake surrender and draw the posse out into the open for a clear shot.
We conclude the issue with new evidence in the investigation, an embarrassment, and the cavalry.

THE ENFIELD GANG MASSACRE #3 maintains a simmering pace on the plot but compensates with gripping, high-tension scenes that make readers hold their breath. The anticipation is thick enough to cut with a knife, and Phillips’s cinematic art is packed with dramatic energy.
