Is REBEL MOON: HOUSE OF THE BLOODAXE #3 Good?
In the previous issue, Darrian had become disillusioned by his father’s lack of willingness to put up a stern front against the Motherworld. The rebels hiding out on their planet have been accused of the murder of the king. Darrian, conflicted about his cultural allegiances, goes to find out more about the rebels and reconnects with his tribal roots. Meanwhile, tensions rise as the Motherworld’s military forces begin to land and hunt the rebels.
In this issue, we see the dissolution of Lord Shasu’s family when Darrian publicly declares himself a rebel. Military forces from the Motherworld invade, leading to skirmishes between them and the rebels. Lord Shasu tries to stave off a full-on invasion while dealing with internal turmoil, including his son’s betrayal.
If you’re wondering where this story sits in the timeline of the Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon films, this comic serves as a prequel series to the Rebel Moon film, focusing on minor characters from the movie.

What did we like about REBEL MOON: HOUSE OF THE BLOODAXE #3?
The character interactions are solid, portraying personal and intergalactic turmoil effectively. The exploration of Lord Shasu’s internal conflict adds depth to his character, showing the struggle between his duty to his people and his relationship with his children. Additionally, the portrayal of Darrian’s journey of self-discovery as he reconnects with his tribal roots adds an intriguing layer to the narrative. The comic effectively captures the tension of the rebellion and the stakes involved, keeping readers engaged throughout.
What didn’t we like about REBEL MOON: HOUSE OF THE BLOODAXE #3?
While the character development is strong, the pacing of the story feels uneven at times. The transition between scenes can be abrupt, making it challenging to follow the flow of events. Additionally, the dialogue, particularly the use of tribal language, can be difficult to comprehend, detracting from the overall readability of the comic. Furthermore, the lack of action in certain parts of the issue may leave some readers wanting more excitement and momentum to drive the plot forward.
How’s the Art?
The art by Clark Bint, while serviceable, lacks consistency in anatomy and detail. At times, characters appear disproportionate, with varying sizes and proportions from panel to panel. This inconsistency can be distracting and detracts from the overall visual coherence of the comic. While the cover art and color work by Francesco Segala are commendable, the interior artwork could benefit from more attention to detail and consistency in character design. It falls short of achieving the level of polish expected from a major comic publisher like Titan Comics.

REBEL MOON: HOUSE OF THE BLOODAXE #3 offers drama and turmoil, especially within Lord Shasu’s family and the larger intergalactic conflict, but it falls short in terms of coherence and art quality.
