Was It Good?
Yes, it was good.
This entire mini is a highly entertaining mix of X-Files and Trailer Park Boys with just a hint of the National Enquirer. Crypts dealing with everyday problems presents plenty of story opportunities, but this mini swung for the fences by making Phil a spawn of Baphomet who’s rejected his evil origins, and that makes this story arc a Hell of a lot bigger.
Does this issue wrap up the mini well and in a good place? Yes. To be fair, the final conflict between the Cryptid Crew and a giant demon from Hell looks lopsided on its surface. A supernatural demon should be more powerful than what was shown here, so the final fight came across as too easily won. It was still entertaining, but it was too easy to beat the final boss.
One more noteworthy point about the writing is the fantastic pacing. This is an oversized issue (32 pages not counting the cover and credits), and it flew by. More comics writers should take note of how well the pacing is executed in this issue.
As we noted in previous reviews, this entire mini is a significant step up from the typical Zenescope house style. This issue is no different. Frankly, the art in this issue is some of the best Zenescope has put out in recent memory, and it stands up to (or does a little bit better than) most comics publishers right now.
Overall, this is a solid end to an entertaining mini with fantastic art.
What’s It About?

Before you dig in, check out our MAN GOAT & THE BUNNYMAN #2 review to get a lay of the land.
Phil and Tammy receive the package with Floyd’s tail and a note commanding them to come to the cult’s HQ. When they arrive, they’re outgunned and outnumbered, so Phil has no choice but to lay down as a sacrifice for the cult leader’s ritual.
The cult leader ritually kills Phil and a Hell gate opens to bring the demon, Baphomet, into our world. To the cult leader’s surprise, Baphomet orders his demon imps to kill everyone present and resurrects Phil to fight by his side.
We get some nice emotional conflict as Floyd is freed but forced to fight Phil for control. When all seems lost, Wendell shows up with Bowser aka Bigfoot, and Floyd manages to snap Phil out of his demonic trance. We conclude the issue with the Cryptid Crew in a battle royale against Baphomet for the fate of the world.
Final Thoughts
MAN GOAT & THE BUNNYMAN #3 ends the mini on a high note with brilliant art, high-paced action, and a Hell of a lot of fun.
