Is It Good?
FALLEN #6 brings Matt Ringel’s detective noir/urban fantasy mashup to a close with a gritty confrontation to stop Osiris from completing a blood ritual that could spell trouble for the world. Filled with rough, grounded action and a couple of emotional gut punches, FALLEN #6 finishes the mini-series as strongly as it started.
Ringel’s script wastes no time bringing the players together after a brief visit with the mighty and affable Hephaestus to make use of his forging skills. Armed with a gun loaded with god-killing bullets, Casper and his allies (both god and human) head to Osiris’s headquarters for payback over Zeus’s murder. Before the deed is done, buildings will explode, mortals will fall into the veil between life and death, and choices will be made.
What’s great about this comic? Matt Ringel is laser-focused on bringing all the players together for a satisfying, definitive conclusion to this story. There are emotional highs and lows to hold your attention, and Ringel sticks the landing but holds open a small crack in the door for the possibility of more stories in the future.
What’s not so great about this comic? Ositiris’s intention seems big, and Ringel clearly lays out why Osiris is doing what he’s doing, but the consequences of Osiris’s plan aren’t clear. Will all gods return to the ether? Is there a negative impact on Earth if Osiris succeeds? Casper’s motivated purely by payback for Zweus’s death, but more clarity surrounding the consequences of Osiris’s plan would have given the finale more urgency.
How’s the art? Henry Ponciano’s has been consistently good since issue #1, and the finale is no exception. Ponciano has a gift for strong lines, and considering this is a detective noir story, Ponciano maximizes the use of dramatic shadows for the greatest effect.

Check out our FALLEN #5 review to find out how Casper got his hands on a special weapon.
We begin with Casper, Thor, and their allies visiting Hephaestus. The god of the forge enjoys his days away from his stuffy family as a mechanic, but Casper has come with a special request, reforge the Kami blade into god-killing bullets.
Later, the group arrives at Osirirs’s headquarters, where they’re met by Hades and his men. Hades agrees to keep the way clear for Casper but he’s determined to see Athena pay for her betrayal. The group is met by Osiris’s gods on the steps of the building’s entrance.
We conclude the issue with bloody fights, death, almost death, and a choice.
