Is It Good?
BOOGYMAN #2 is a treat for fans of horror mixed with fantasy. Salvia’s story picks up the pace in this issue as the Boogymen figure out Father Death is still alive. What follows is a desperate fight for survival and a frantic chase to keep Elliot alive in increasingly hostile territory. Filled with ripping art (that’s a good thing) and a conflict packed with little hints of sweeping mythology, this is a banger of an issue.
Practically everything about Salvia’s story works. The pacing is excellent, the dialog captures several distinct voices with their unique personalities, and the plot steadily unfolds the mystery of the Boogyman’s origin with enough tidbits to be satisfying while leaving enough open questions to keep you curious.
The minor down point is the story’s heavy reliance on “Little Sisters”- insect-like creatures that infect people or are spawned from humans and act as food sources for the Boogymen… or something like that. It’s unclear what the Little Sisters are and how they’re created, so the heavy reliance on their existence in the story generates a mild amount of confusion.
Djet’s art is phenomenal in this issue. Every panel pulses with mood and power, and the character designs have a captivating, urban fantasy style. You could imagine one of these characters slipping down a dark alley without giving it a second thought, but their designs are just unusual enough to give them an air of magic. Also, the action scenes in this issue are fluid and gripping.

Check out our THE BOOGYMAN #1 review to find out how Elliot found himself in the middle of a war.
We begin in the middle of Elliot’s home as Peg-Leg snatches the boy up with horrible intentions. Suddenly, Nightmare charges Peg-Leg and the two crash through the nearby window. Peg-Leg cust Nightmare down with his scythe, but Father Death rips Peg-Leg apart before he can make it back to the house.
Realizing more Boogymen will come, Father Death orders Elliot to get dressed and pack a few things for a quick escape. The trio flees into the woods, hoping to find a police station where Elliot can receive armed protection.
Meanwhile, Grandma is joined by more Boogymen to survey what happened to Peg-Leg. They conclude Father Death survived the Great Massacre, and they need to find him to ensure the old ways of the Elders never take root again. We conclude the issue with talk of Little Sisters, favorite haunts, and deadly hunters.
