Was It Good?
The review for YUKI VS. PANDA #7 is going to be very short.
Why? It’s going to be short because, barring a small tidbit of plot development, the entire issue is one fight scene that ends with a “you haven’t heard the last of me” cliffhanger.
Is that enough for you? Is that enough to be worth the cover price? Well, that depends on how much you’re willing to pay for a martial arts fight between a teenager and a sentient panda.
Therefore, the strength of the issue relies solely on the artist’s ability to make the fight fun and engaging. For the majority of the issue, yes, the fight is fun. There’s a mild slapstick quality to it that feels like something out of a Jackie Chan film. Damage is done and pain is inflicted but there’s not a hint of realism or true threat expressed by either combatant. It’s cartoonish in every sense of the word, but cartoonish aptly describes this series, so it fits.
Overall, if you want to read a comic that’s truly nothing but one fight scene, this one is your cup of ginseng tea.

And then they fight. That’s it. That’s the whole issue.
We conclude the issue with one fighter getting the better of the other… for now.
Final Thoughts
YUKI VS. PANDA #7 picks up where the last issue left off with a martial arts battle. The entire issue is nothing but one, long fight scene. The art is energetic and fun with a large dash of slapstick, but there’s no story to speak of.
