Is It Good?
YUKI VS. PANDA #10 is a strange issue to wrap your head around. In the last few issues, readers received gobs of clarity surrounding the big event that leads to the end of the world and the parts both Yuki and Panda play in it. Rather than building on those revelations, Misiurak pulls back to mindless action and begins a tangential thread about a schoolboy and his ex-girlfriend.
We call this issue strange because the story appears directionless, so it’s impossible to tell if Misiurak is simply filling pages or if there’s a grand-but-hidden design yet to be revealed. In either case, the story feels like it’s spinning its wheels. If you like mindless action with no point, and if you like high school hijinks with characters that have nothing to do with the main plot, there will be something to like in this issue.
It’s not all bad. Readers are treated to a back-and-forth montage as Panda repeatedly tries (and fails) to best Yuki in personal combat. Each time he returns home, he’s injured in bizarre and amusing ways, so there’s that.
Also, Jones has a solid eye for slapstick-ish action content that takes itself seriously. The action scenes are reminiscent of one of Jackie Chan’s comedy-action films, so again, if you like mindless action and aren’t put off by the lack of story, there’s something to like here.

Check out our YUKI VS. PANDA #9 review to learn what big revelations have come to life.
We begin with Panda in a library, learning the ways of the Internet in hopes of finding Yuki’s weakness via her social media activity. His searches prove fruitless.
Later, Panda goes back to direct attacks by storming Yuki’s house and ambushing her on her nightly jogs. Every attack proves equally fruitless, and he staggers home with plenty of bruises and his tail between his legs.
Meanwhile, one of Yuki’s friends recounts how his ex-girlfriend is a control freak. We conclude the issue with the rumor mill in full effect, and a rival school visit.

Final Thoughts

YUKI VS. PANDA #10 feels like a step backward as all the big revelations from the last couple of issues are roundly ignored in favor of slapstick humor, mindless action, and yet another irrelevant story thread involving one of Yuki’s classmates. It’s hard to tell if there’s a secret plan at work or if the creators are simply killing time.
