Is It Good?
TITAN: MOUSE OF MIGHT #2 builds and improves on issue #1 by settling into Titan’s present adventure while pulling back the veil over his objective and the personal connection to his past. Filled with plenty of Cap & Cowl action and character development, issue #2 is a big step up for the pint-sized hero.
When last we left Titan, he was infiltrating a research facility for some unknown reason. Now, we learn, through a mix of present action and past flashbacks, Titan is on a rescue mission to save a fellow mouse whose the son of one of his protectors when Titan arrived on Earth.
Titan encounters multiple beasties in his quest to rescue Asher, considerably amping up the superhero action with brutal fights, cool gadgets, and displays of superhum… err, supermouse strength. As an action-based superhero comic, this issue is rock solid.
However, this issue isn’t all about the action. We learn a little more about what happened to Titan when he arrived on Earth, Titan’s connection to Asher, and a hint that the humans in charge of the Ryan Research Center have been running dangerous experiments with Titan’s blood samples. In other words, this issue delivers plenty of character- and world-building along with the action to give readers more than their money’s worth.
In addition to the excellent writing are Shipman’s outstanding pencils and inks. Titan encounters a cat with the most pristine line hatching we’ve seen in recent memory. The action ranks up with the best Batman comics around, and the emotionally painful moments (from Titan’s flashbacks) carry a definitive weight that enriches Titan as a three-dimensional character.

Check out our TITAN: MOUSE OF MIGHT #1 review to find out how Titan arrived on Earth.
We begin with Titan continuing to stealthily weave his way through the ducts of the Ryan Research Center. Between his acrobatics, we see flashbacks to Titan’s first days on Earth when he was taken in by a peaceful clan of mice. The peace is disrupted when the clan recognizes Titan to be very different, and the trouble grows when humans come looking for Titan.
Now, Titan finds his target – Asher, the son of one of the members of the clan who took Titan in. Asher tries to warn Titan off because his imprisonment is a trap to lure Titan to the RRC. We conclude the issue with a feline trap, a bizarre trap, and a fight for survival.
