Analysis of TERROR & FURY #3:
Recap:
When we last left the reincarnated versions of Miss Fury and Black Terror in Terror & Fury #2, Terror’s memories returned. He recalled that Vayne was a soldier he fought in WWII who accepted the curse of vampirism to continue the propagation of the Third Reich throughout eternity, starting with the development of a serum that gave vampires immunity from sunlight and traditional weaknesses. The issue ended with a hard-fought fight in Hiroshima, a blinding light, and the dawn of a new era with an old enemy.
Plot Analysis:
In Terror & Fury #3, Terror’s memories return except for the most important one of all. S.H.A.D.E officials learn it’s taken years for Vayne to reproduce the immunity serum, but he’s close enough that the spread of superpowered vampires is imminent. Luckily, the group’s intel agents have located Vayne’s stronghold in upstate New York.
Terror and Fury gear up for what could be a suicide mission to infiltrate Bannerman Castle and take down Vayne. S.H.A.D.E reinforcements will follow as soon as the heroes get to the source of Vayne’s lab. When the heroes drop into the castle, they make short work of the vampire legions waiting for them. During the fight, Terror is shaken by the last hidden memory resurfacing – the death of his wife and child 80 years ago. Now, Terror fights beside and with Fury, urged on by rage against the vampires responsible for the death of his family.
Our heroes infiltrate the castle and tear through the standard vampire guards, but a small squad of enhanced vampires appears to capture them. Suddenly, S.H.A.D.E. reinforcements arrive with solar radiation cannons to blow the enhanced vampires away. The issue ends with Terror making a desperate and explosive move to stop Vayne for good.
First Impressions:
Well, if you’re going to go out, you might as well go out with a bang. Writer Joe Brusha’s macho tale of a hero going all out to take down the bad guys feels right in so many ways. If Arnold Schwarzenegger was still in peak form, he’s the only actor who could do Terror justice.
Artwork and Presentation:
Likewise, Jordi Tarragona pulls no punches (literally) when Terror and Fury punch, kick, slash, slice, and dice their way through one wave of vampires after another. The action comes at you, fast and furious, for a visual feast.

Story Positives & Negatives:
The Positives:
Fans of hard-edged action films will love Terror & Fury #3. Joe Brusha’s script is a hard-hitting tale of action, drama, strong emotional beats, and a relatively satisfying ending. What more could you want?
The Negatives:
For all the trouble Terror, Fury, and S.H.A.D.E. go through to stop a Vampire Apocalypse, they’re a little too lax in confirming that Vayne is well and truly dead. Given what’s at stake, you’d think they’d scour every square inch of the area to ensure there’s no chance for the vampire to return, so their lax attitude in thinking they “probably” got him is no bueno.
The Bigger Picture:
Series Continuity:
As of this writing, there’s no formal announcement that Terror & Fury is slated to return. We hope that changes, and we’ll let you know when or if an announcement is made.

TERROR & FURY #3 is a hard-hitting, pull-no-punches action fest with powerful heroes doing their best (and worst) to stop vampires. Joe Brusha’s script hits all the right notes to make an action-flick fan proud, and Jordi Tarragona’s artwork is aces.
