Is SPAWN #351 Good?
Spawn #350 was the culmination and finale of the heaven-hell war. Instead of taking the throne, Spawn convinces Nyx from Greenworld to become the new ruler of Hell. Consequently, all hellspawn, demons, and angels are powerless, and the dead zones on Earth have merged, covering the entire planet. Now, characters in the Spawn universe are coping with life as regular mortals.
In Spawn #351, Spawn, still mortal and powerless, is searching for a cure for vampirism. He opposes Bluddd, the king of the vampires, who took advantage of the chaos after the war. Bludd’s vampire army now controls the portals to heaven and hell. Spawn aims to find a cure to level the playing field and confronts vampires.
Spawn’s quest for a cure for vampirism is motivated by events in King Spawn issues 31 and 32, however King Spawn #32 hasn’t released yet. This creates confusion for readers. The issue also explores the broader implications of the dead zones covering the Earth, showing the struggles of various characters in the Spawn universe.

What did we like about SPAWN #351?
The issue’s action sequences are not only well-executed but also serve to showcase Spawn’s resourcefulness and combat skills even without his powers. It effectively portrays Spawn as a formidable force to be reckoned with, relying on his military training and experience to confront threats head-on. Additionally, the exploration of Spawn’s determination to find a cure for vampirism adds depth to his character and presents a compelling narrative arc. Despite being powerless, Spawn’s unwavering resolve to level the playing field against Bludd and his vampire army demonstrates his resilience and adaptability in the face of adversity.
What didn’t we like about SPAWN #351?
While the issue excels in portraying Spawn’s tenacity and the overarching narrative of his quest for a cure, it suffers from a lack of clarity regarding his motivations. The reliance on events from unreleased issues of King Spawn creates confusion for readers, as they are left in the dark about the full context of Spawn’s mission. Without proper setup or explanation, Spawn’s actions may seem disconnected or arbitrary, detracting from the overall coherence of the storyline. Additionally, the absence of insight into Spawn’s intentions with the cure for vampirism leaves a significant narrative gap, hindering the reader’s ability to fully engage with the plot and character development.
How’s the Art?
Brett Booth’s art, along with the colors by Jay David Ramos, brings Spawn #351 to life with dynamic characters and engaging visuals. The artwork maintains the iconic Spawn aesthetic throughout the issue.

SPAWN #351 elevates Spawn as a formidable character without his powers. The quest to find a cure for vampirism adds an interesting element to the story, and the world-building after the heaven-hell war is compelling. However, the lack of setup and context due to the unreleased issues of King Spawn is a drawback.
