Is It Good?
SHOW’S END: THE SECOND COMING #4 barrages readers with one terrifying revelation after another in this penultimate issue. With each reveal, momentum builds toward an explosive cliffhanger. In short, this issue is a banger.
Cleveland’s story takes an energetic turn in this issue with dramatically elevated pacing.
Loralye’s grandfather sets his plan in motion with Loralye reluctantly by his side, and Pavel is shocked to find out what commitment to evolution involves. The two threads push each character into increasingly desperate corners, so the anxiety adds to the pacing until the story reaches a fever pitch. Cleveland’s excellent use of momentum helps cent this issue as a page-turner.
The second highlight of this issue is Cleveland’s use of emotional angst and shock to get readers invested in what happens to the characters. When Pavel learns the details of Coralynn’s ritual, he needs to get away, but the need to reconnect with his father tears him apart. When Loralye finds out what happens to an old friend, her grandfather’s quest becomes more personal, even if she wasn’t originally on board with the plan. In both cases, the characters are headed in a direction for specific reasons, and this issue yanks the rug out from both of them to change how they look at their situation and the world.
Sadzinski’s art, with Marques’s colors, looks great, and they have a chance to flex creative muscle by showing new horrors and catastrophes in the making. The magic and monster mayhem is stepped up several notches, and the execution grabs your attention.

During the train ride, Loralye’s grandfather tries to convince Loralye that his plan is meant to save their kind.
Meanwhile, Pavel willingly agrees to undergo the transformation to be more like his father. When he enters the ritual tent, he’s horrified to learn that the transformation requires flesh, and the offering will come from two tied-up men. Pavel’s father encourages him to claim the offering with a chainsaw.
We conclude the issue with a brewing storm, Loralye seeing proof of what’s at stake, and explosive interruptions.
