Is It Good?
SHEENA: QUEEN OF THE JUNGLE (VOL. 2) #10 brings the classic pulp serial adventure to a close with prehistoric monsters, battles with Nazis, thrilling aerial chases, and one heck of a rushed ending. Well, you can’t have everything.
De Souza’s script swings for the fences with gonzo action and big wow moments as you can cram into a single comic. In the previous issue, Sheena and her friends learned the magic portal sent them to the past before the end of WWII, so de Souza elevates the urgency and stakes by giving Sheena more to do than simply survive. Now, all the threads kick into overdrive to not only save Sheena’s friends but save history as well.
However, this ending is as rushed as you can get and still hold together as a story. De Souza has to get Sheena out of her Fay Wray moment quickly to join her friends, but her escape is so quick and so patently ridiculous, it’s only possible because the script makes it so. Also, the ending wraps up the time adventure without addressing any of the problems that led Sheena to investigate the portal in the first place. It’s as if an entire chunk of the story was left out. This volume would have been served with one more issue to wrap things up completely.
Silva and Ribeiro have a lot of action scenes to render, and they pull them off beautifully. The action scenes are big and exciting. The prehistoric monster moments are the stuff of pulp legendry. And the line work is impressively detailed.

Check out our SHEENA: QUEEN OF THE JUNGLE (VOL. 2) #9 review to find out how Sheena was set up to be lizard food.
We begin with the Nazi U-Boat crew enjoying themselves at dinner while Sheena’s friends are staked out on the beach to await the rising tide. Through a haphazard view of a recording of Jaws (1975) on the friend’s laptop, the Nazis figure out that the U.S.S. Indianapolis is en route to deliver an atomic bomb, so they make plans to intercept the ship.
Meanwhile, Sheena is tied to stone pillars as a sacrifice to a gigantic dinosaur. Through a series of unbelievable acrobatics, Sheena escapes her bonds and wrangles the dinosaur into a ride down to the beach.
We conclude the issue with a Nazi vs. Dino fight, a dog fight, and terrible singing.

SHEENA: QUEEN OF THE JUNGLE (VOL. 2) #10 ends the volume with a fast-paced, pulpy adventure that doesn’t stop to take a breath. The wow moments are exciting, but the ending feels rushed, and the setup that started the adventure is left completely unresolved.
