Is SANTOS SISTERS #5 Good?
Greg & Fake continue to turn the concept of superhero sisters on its head with mature hijinks, shenanigans, and tomfoolery in SANTOS SISTERS #5. The creative team’s latest anthology contains one-shot shorts and continuing chapters from the previous issue to tickle your funny bone with well-executed puerile humor.
Of the three main shorts, Scenes From A Mall reads as the most complete, with the strongest central idea and best execution. However, all the shorts have something to offer for fans of the superhero sister team.

As with all our anthology reviews, we’ll cover each short in brief and what did or didn’t work.
It’s Very DMT To Meet You
Ambar and Alana stroll the boardwalk on a sweltering day when Ambar spots a flier offering a free LSD if you lick the s[to on the bottom of the page. Reckless as ever, Ambar gives the flier a lick and trips the light fantastic with the help of a salacious garden gnome.
Weird, trippy, and pointless but somewhat amusing. This short has no purpose other than to show what kind of trouble Ambar gets in when she acts with complete recklessness.
Dude! Where Is My Car?!, Part 2
Following up from SANTOS SISTERS #4, Ambar and Dirk neglect their stakeout duties, leaving Todd and the bait car to be snatched by the car theft ring the Sisters have been hunting. After a stern lecture by Alana and an energetic chase after the kidnapping car thieves, the Sisters pull their act together long enough to save the day.
This short is more in line with the Sisters’ superhero shenanigans, with Amabar as irresponsible as ever. That said, the action and chase scenes are well done, and the dialog is amusing.
Scenes From A Mall
A frustrated cinnamon shop clerk conjures a spell to get revenge on her rude customers. Unfortunately, the spell goes wrong, unleashing a delicious monster loose in the Mall. Can the Santos Sisters and Todd put the out-of-control baked goods back in the box?
Again, amusing. Todd’s reckless cashier girl gets him and the Mall in a whole heap of trouble. The pacing, action, and slapstick land perfectly.

SANTOS SISTERS #5 delivers chuckles, action, and weird developments with an anthology designed to put a smile on your face. The humor mostly lands, and the Archie-inspired art is pitch-perfect.
