Is It Good?
How is this possible? Regardless of the subject matter, Garrett Gunn and Christina Blanch excel at telling stories with kickass action sequences to amaze and astound. POSTMASTERS #2 is no different.
After an unusually long hiatus (issue #1 came out way back in February 2022), the second part of this post-apocalyptic, pandemic-inspired action thriller is back to wrap up 32’s thankless mission to deliver what could be the most important letter in the world. Filled with witty banter between 32 and Peach, dizzying action sequences of the sword-slashing variety, and a tragically twisted ending, you could rightfully argue the wait was worth it.
The minor down point of the issue is the quickness of the twist ending, which is a little too ambiguous to be clear. We won’t spoil it here, but 32 completes his mission, and the results are not what they seem. Unfortunately, the value of the letter and its implications aren’t obvious unless you mentally fill in some blanks.
Stan Yak’s artwork in this issue is phenomenal. Blanch and Gunn plan out the scenes with action, but it’s Yak’s artistry that brings the energy of these scenes to life. You get fast kicks, sledgehammer punches, and sword slashes that slice and dice from every angle imaginable. If you’re into action films with a martial arts flavor, you’re going to LOVE this comic.

Check out our POSTMASTERS #1 review to find out how 32 was assigned his most critical mission.
We begin with 32 recovering after he was jumped by a group of mutants in the woods and saved by fellow Postmaster, Peach. Peach’s current mission ended, so she offers to accompany 32 on his long trek to Bend to deliver the special letter. Along the way, Peach and 32 encounter more gangs of mutants, deadly human scavengers, and harsh weather as they cross the mountainous terrain to get to Bend.
When they reach Bend, they find the compound surrounded by both scavengers and mutant gangs trying to break in to steal supplies. 32 and Peach manage to stealthily gain access, only to find one bad Postmaster still alive. Worse still, the letter 32 worked so hard to deliver still has a long way to go.
We conclude the issue with sacrifice, determination, and final orders.

POSTMASTERS #2 is a roundhouse-punching, sword-slashing post-apocalyptic thrill ride of the first order. The plotting, pacing, and witty dialog are all on-point, and the art is action-packed with all the martial arts goodness you could want. Despite a slightly ambiguous ending, the break between issues #1 and #2 was worth the wait.
