Is It Good?
Yeah, that’s the stuff. LITTLE RED RONIN #2 crystallizes Red’s adventurous ideas in issue #1 into a gripping, sharp, and impactful quest filled with danger at every turn. We liked issue #1 for its heartfelt take on a girl willing to go against everyone to prove her Basaan’s (grandmother) story about a Great Wolf was real. Now, not only is it real, but it’s spectacular!
Everything bout this issue works. Wallis’s art style, which we’ve grown keen on from the Good Boy series, is back in full form as the Great Wolf rips, rends, and tears through everyone it encounters. Gunn’s dialog is super-sharp and snappy with just the right hint of wit. The pacing is outstanding, and the plot development is masterful.
The key to this issue is just how effectively Gunn and Wallis get the reader to care about Red. Her spunky charm and indomitable determination form the basis for somebody you admire. Red isn’t just a typical hero who does great things. She’s a fighter you can respect.
Again, you can’t go wrong with this issue. The main character is a scrappy gem, and the art and writing are in perfect sync to deliver a story that’s edgy, sharp, and witty. The monstrous elements are truly monstrous, and the plot will keep you on the edge of your seat.

What’s It About?

Find out about the legend of the Great Wold and how Red’s journey began in our LITTLE RED RONIN #1 review.
We begin with Red confronting her friend Dave after he followed her into the woods. Red reluctantly agrees to let Dave tag along. In a moment of clarity, Red remembers a repressed memory of a Great Wolf sighting that contains a clue to their next destination.
Red finds a path lit by magic candles in the darkest part of the woods. The path leads to an old witch hunt containing a strange assortment of books, including one about the Great Wolf. As they read the book, Red notices several pages are missing. While Red and Dave search for the missing pages, they hear a noise outside and escape through a doggy door.
Outside, Red and Dave run into Marcus and his gang of bullies waiting for them. We conclude the issue with a challenge, an evil plan, and a bad end to a bad day.

LITTLE RED RONIN #2 is the rare circumstance of a second issue building and improving on the first in every way. The writing is clever, sharp, and witty. The horror elements are horrific. And the art is fascinating.

Is Ronin and samurai same?
No, Ronin and Samurai are not the same. A Samurai is a great warrior bound in service to a master or family. The Samurai serve their master with honor in all things. A Ronin is a Samurai who is no longer bound in service to a master. The skills, training, and abilities between Samurai and Ronin are the same, but Ronin is considered a wanderer who has no purpose, and therefore, lives and fights without shame or honor.
