Is HUNT. KILL. REPEAT. #6 Good?
HUNT. KILL. REPEAT. #6 brings the first arc to a close with an angst-riddles battle, at least one twist you won’t see coming, and an ending that’s not so happy. Mark London’s urban fantasy take on the Olympian Gods hasn’t messed a beat since issue #1, so it’s a pleasure to say the arc ends as well as it started.
When last we left Artemis and her small circle of allies, she sought out the only being who had the power to stop Zeus – Medusa. Unfortunately for Artemis, Medusa’s past traumas and betrayal at the hands of jealous gods left her mind too fractured and monstrous to contain. Now, Artemis tries to energize Medusa’s head as a weapon, but the lack of power gives Artemis an idea that could bring Olympus to its knees.
In a recent Op-Ed, we extolled the power and requirement of every comic to have one big idea that quantifies the point the writer is trying to make. Hunt. Kill. Repeat. is one of the series we cited as nailing that concept with great results. In this finale, London not only repeats the positive step of having one big idea (“stop Zeus at any price”), but he uses the ending to tie together the central ideas from all the previous issues for a satisfying conclusion. Kudos!
What’s great about HUNT. KILL. REPEAT. #6? London ticks all the right boxes for a satisfying finale, including great dialog, brisk pacing, meaningful action, and a gripping ending with plenty of future potential. On top of the excellent script structure, London weaves in two surprises to keep readers on their toes and switch up the ending in a completely different direction than the way you thought it was headed. Surprises are a positive when done correctly. Here, London does them correctly.
What’s not so great about HUNT. KILL. REPEAT. #6? Honestly, nothing that isn’t a minor nitpick not worth mentioning. From every angle, HUNT. KILL. REPEAT. #6 is a great finale to the arc.
How’s the art? Francesco Archidiacono and Marc Deering outdo themselves with upgraded character designs, particularly for Hephaestus, which looks fantastic, brutal action, and a new character design for [REDACTED] that is outright intimidating. The art team presents one of the best-looking comics from Mad Cave for one of their best new properties of the last year.

Check out our HUNT. KILL. REPEAT #5 review to find out how Artemis’s meeting with Medusa ended.
We begin with Hephaestus trying (and failing) to energize Medusa’s head as a weapon for Artemis to use against Zeus. Sadly, Hephaestus can’t generate enough electricity, so Artemis devises a new plan.
Later, Hephaestus, Tempus, and Artemis storm the palace. Hephaestus used the last of his Olympian armor to create upgraded versions of their weapons. They mow down Zeus’s soldiers with ease. Hephaestus and Tempus hold off the next wave to give Artemis time to enter the throne room.
Inside, Artemis confronts Zeus and Lemantis as they stand ready to fight with Artemis’s son, Marcellus. We conclude the issue with multiple revelations, a power-up, a new threat, and a promise kept.
