Is HAUNTED HOUSE: A LOVE STORY #5 Good?
Alright, to get ourselves up to speed, let’s rewind a bit. Issue #4 took us on a rollercoaster ride through the house’s emotional turmoil. Remember, this house is sentient, and it’s been working its way through the five stages of grief. In the last issue, we saw it grappling with depression. A trio of teenagers broke in, one of them named Sebastian who was dealing with his own heartbreak, mirroring the house’s emotional state. Things got a little wild, and Sebastian almost took a tumble off the roof. Luckily, the house, in a way, saved him. It seems there’s a strange connection between Sebastian and the house.
Now, in issue #5, the house is still feeling pretty down in the dumps. It’s been condemned because of its history and dilapidated state. There’s a dark past lingering around the house, including a murder that happened way back when. The bad vibes are strong with this one!
Enter another trio of teenagers. Two of them are secretly a couple, and the third one, guess who, it’s Sebastian again! Seems he’s still not over his ex. They break into the house, looking for trouble and maybe a way to distract themselves from their own problems.
This issue throws in a cool detail about the house’s past. The original architect who built the house, the one whose love brought the house to life in the first place, guess what his name was? Sebastian! It’s a strange coincidence that adds another layer to the connection between the house and our heartbroken teenager.

What did we like about HAUNTED HOUSE: A LOVE STORY #5?
There’s a lot to love about this issue. The concept itself is so unique – a haunted house experiencing human emotions? It’s fresh and intriguing. We also dig how the story uses the different stages of grief as a framework. It gives the whole thing a deeper meaning and makes you connect with the house on a surprising level.
The artwork is another highlight. It perfectly captures the mood of the story. When the house is feeling depressed, the visuals are dark and heavy. When Sebastian is lost in his own despair, the panels reflect that. It’s all very well done.
What didn’t we like about HAUNTED HOUSE: A LOVE STORY #5?
There wasn’t a whole lot we disliked, but there was one thing that felt a little off. The moment where Sebastian nearly dies and has a change of heart felt a bit clunky. It wasn’t entirely clear how he ended up being saved by the house. It could have been executed a bit smoother, but hey, the story still works overall.
How’s the Art?
As mentioned before, the art is a strong point. It’s not the most detailed or polished style out there, but it has a certain indie comic vibe that works well for this story. The way the art reflects the emotions of the house and the characters is really effective. It creates a strong atmosphere throughout the comic.

Sure, there’s that one slightly awkward moment, but it doesn’t detract from the overall enjoyment.
