Is GRIMM FAIRY TALES (VOL. 2) #81 Good?
The last issue saw Skye and Mystere team up to investigate a group stealing souls and replacing them with dark spirits. Their investigation led them to a haunted house where they encountered Reap and Sow, nasty henchwomen working for a mysterious organization called the Congregation of the Dead. Things went south when Skye got captured and trapped by Reap and Sow.
GRIMM FAIRY TALES (VOL. 2) #81 picks up right where the cliffhanger left us. Skye’s in a tight spot, but luckily, Mystere has a hidden weapon: spirit bombs made with sage crystals. Skye manages to use one and escapes Reap’s clutches. However, the fight isn’t over. They capture Sow, hoping to squeeze some information out of her, but their interrogation is interrupted by Reap, who returns with her boss, a powerful woman named Iansa. A massive brawl ensues, and Skye gets separated from her body! Now, her soul is in the hands of the Congregation of the Dead, and she faces a difficult choice: join them or fight for her body back in a brutal trial by combat.
There wasn’t anything specifically mentioned about behind-the-scenes trivia for this issue, but it’s always interesting to see how the Grimm Fairy Tales universe expands with each new threat and organization.
What did we like about GRIMM FAIRY TALES (VOL. 2) #81?
This issue delivers a heaping helping of supernatural action. The fight scenes are dynamic and exciting, and the mystery surrounding the Congregation of the Dead keeps us hooked. We also appreciate how Skye, despite the danger, manages to be resourceful and take charge in this situation.
What didn’t we like about GRIMM FAIRY TALES (VOL. 2) #81?
While the villains seem powerful and the stakes are high, the story lacks some clarity. We don’t quite understand the Congregation of the Dead’s motives or what they’re ultimately after. This ambiguity makes the overall goal of the arc a little fuzzy.
How’s the Art?
Babisu Kourtis’s art is steadily improving. The inking, which was a bit rough in previous issues, shows improvement, especially regarding details like hair and backgrounds. The color palette by Jorge Cortes is strong, but the blending and shading could be smoother. Overall, the art is decent but not quite top-notch.

GRIMM FAIRY TALES (VOL. 2) #81 is a good, action-packed read. The story throws some exciting developments at us, and the villain organization seems like a formidable threat. However, the lack of clarity regarding their motives weakens the overall impact. The art is serviceable but could be better.
