Is It Good?
One of our favorite series from Source Point Press is back to amaze and astound with hard-hitting action, incredibly natural character moments, and a plot that expands on the Good Boy universe in new and surprising ways. GOOD BOY (VOL. 3) #1 is the bee’s knees.
Garrett Gunn and Christina Blanch appear incapable of turning out a bad issue in this series. Now that Flint Sparks is done with revenge and the Farm is back to a place of stability, life is in a good place for the group of former assassins. Now, an old threat has returned to claim Flint, and it’s up to Flint’s son (surprise!), Grizzly, to get his dear old dad back.
Everything about this concept works. The dialog is snappy and filled with a snark that belies a deep kinship and respect between the former assassins and mercenaries. The quippy humor lands on every single joke. The pacing is electric. And the entire setup of this new arc is practically perfect because you immediately get stakes, motivation, and emotional investment in one neat, little package.
Likewise, Kit Wallis’s hip, whimsical art is a perfect match for this story. The nuanced facial expressions convey oodles of feeling with a simple glance. The action is cinematically choreographed, and the color shading captures a surprisingly detailed mix of light and shadow.

What’s It About?
[SPOILERS AHEAD – Click here if you just want the score without spoilers]
We begin shortly after Volume 2 leaves off. Abe, Flint sparks, and the survivors of the attack on the Farm are busy enjoying the simple life. Flint fills his days with simple chores to earn his keep on the rebuilt Farm while Abe enjoys the pleasures of being a father. One night, the past comes calling when a shadowy figure infiltrates the Farm and kidnaps Flint.
Elsewhere, Bonnie receives an alert that something’s wrong with Flint. Without hesitation, Bonnie puts out a call for transportation and a summons to a new character, Grizzly, in Mexico. Grizzly is Flint and Bonnie’s son, and he’s every bit as lethal as his old man.
We conclude the issue with a brutally efficient interrogation and a name-drop.
