Is It Good?
GOOD BOY (VOL. 2) #4 is, hands down, one of the most satisfying endings to an arc we’ve ever read. The action is bloody, the dialog is on-point, the pacing moves like a freight train, and the raw emotional impact is off the charts.
That last bit about “raw emotion” is the key to this comic’s success. Gunn and blanch have created a collection of authentic, grounded soldiers who live and die by their brotherly code of honor. When the big battle draws toward its ultimate conclusion, Tucker’s motivations behind the attacks are made clear. The arc may have started with Flint, but this is really a story about Tucker and Abraham and how Tucker’s flawed view of the world created an insurmountable conflict between two brothers in arms.
This comic is made all the more fascinating by Wallis’s surreal art style. The caricature-ish art doesn’t conflict with the serious nature of the story or downplay the dramatic moments. Instead, Wallis acts out the drama by playing it straight and treating the emotions of the characters with seriousness. This issue is one of the better examples of a Mature comic where the art may look like a carton, but every character is modeled after and relatable to adults.
There are not enough good things to say about this series, including the first arc. If you’re into action films with hard-hitting drama and a surreal twist, don’t sleep on this title.

What’s It About?
[SPOILERS AHEAD – Click here if you just want the score without spoilers]
Find out how all the players prepared for the main event in our GOOD BOY (VOL. 2) #3 review.
We begin with Tucker checking in on his guards when he receives an alert that multiple aircraft are approaching. Tucker expected the attack and ordered his men to fire anti-aircraft cannons. Meanwhile, Flint, Abraham, and the rest of the assault team silently take out the ground guards and sneak into the compound through the sewer system.
Flint and Abraham stealthily eliminate every guard they encounter until the path to Tucker is clear. Tucker soon receives word the anti-aircraft cannons are ineffective because the approaching aircraft are robotic drones. He realizes too late that the drones are a distraction.
We conclude the issue with the last dog standing, a promise, and a goodbye.
