Is FIRE AND ICE: TEEGRA (ONE-SHOT) Good?
FIRE AND ICE: TEEGRA (ONE-SHOT) connects to Willingham’s main “Fire and Ice” series, which itself ties into the events of the classic animated film. Think of it as a side story happening during the big war between the Fire and Ice kingdoms. Got it? Good.
King Jarol needs to solidify alliances to fight the Ice Kingdom. His solution? Marry off his very well-endowed daughter, Princess Teegra. Teegra, unsurprisingly, does not like this plan. The moment she’s alone, she packs up her stuff, grabs her trusty panther, Shaitan, and bails into the jungle.
Naturally, chaos ensues. Teegra gets a bit too ambitious with her luggage, loses some belongings, and most of her clothes, leaving very little to the imagination. She even ends up facing off against a giant dinosaur-like beast! Meanwhile, her dad sends word to all their neighboring kingdoms: find Teegra, and you’ll be handsomely rewarded, with a strong hint that whoever returns her has the best shot at becoming her hubby.
Of course, this sends every prince in the land scrambling. We’ve got tiny princes on birds, neighboring kings of all shapes and sizes, everyone’s out to find this princess and claim their potential bride-to-be. Eventually, Teegra’s dinosaur showdown gets interrupted by a mysterious armored knight who saves the day. He even proposes on the spot! But when she removes his helmet to give him a kiss…he’s basically Chunk from “The Goonies.” Ouch!
Quick bonus fact: this story takes place during the big war between the Fire and Ice kingdoms shown in the animated film. Want to get the full context of how this whole mess started? Check out the movie! It’s a classic of adult animation and totally worth watching.
What We Liked about Fire and Ice: Teegra
This comic starts off fairly serious, but it quickly becomes almost ridiculously entertaining. The barely-there bikini Teegra ends up in is pure, over-the-top TNA, which is obviously a big part of the appeal. The comedy ramps up even more when all the goofy princes show up to find her. There’s a real sense of ridiculousness that’s hard not to find amusing.
Plus, Teegra herself seems endearingly oblivious about, well, everything. We get some classic comedy of errors when she talks about arranged marriages with her brother, Prince Taro, who’s secretly in love with her handmaiden. It’s light, it’s fun, and while not a full-blown comedy, it definitely aims for a playful vibe.
What We Didn’t Like about Fire and Ice: Teegra
The comic struggles with tonal consistency. The whole burlesque-show-meets-serious-situation can be jarring when set against the backdrop of the larger “Fire and Ice” epic fantasy world. You’ve got this major war going on, and the characters treat the whole princess-finding quest almost like a joke. It’s a bit weird, but you have to accept it as part of the experience.
Art Quality
Let’s talk about the art by Gabriele Di Caro. It’s definitely good, and clearly leans into the whole TNA aspect. Teegra’s poses, facial expressions, the emphasis on her…assets…it’s designed to deliver on that front. If that’s what you’re into, you’ll be very pleased.

Overall, how does FIRE AND ICE: TEEGRA (ONE-SHOT) stack up? If you enjoy a little light humor with your fantasy, and you’re in the mood for a whole lot of TNA, you’ll probably have a good time. However, if you’re looking for something that captures the drama and intensity of the original “Fire and Ice” film, this won’t quite hit the mark.
