Analysis of FAIRY TALE TEAM-UP: ROBYN HOOD & RED AGENT:
Plot:
Fairy Tale Team-Up: Robyn Hood & Red Agent begins with Robyn receiving a phone call that her occasional ally, Red Agent, is in the hospital after a fight with a hunter named Venatrix, who works for a coven of witches called the Shadows of Circe. Red Agent steals a magic artifact she believes will unstick her thought-dead friend Avril, and she needs Robyn’s help to open a magical gateway to set things right. Unfortunately, Robyn soon learns that the Red Agent’s magical quest comes at a deadly price.
Artwork and Presentation:
Rodrigo Xavier’s artwork ranges from good to great. Xavier has a strong eye for layouts, compositions, and dramatic framing, and Juan Manuel Rodriguez’s coloring work is super-clean and precise. That said, Xavier’s movement is super-stiff, and the characters’ gestures are very pose-y.

Character Work:
Dave Franchini successfully presents a buddy cop atmosphere between Robyn Hood and Red Agent. Plus, the revelation that Red Agent knew her quest would be deadly gives her personality relatable flaws.
Pacing:
We’ve been critical of the previous Fairy Tale Team-Ups due to the inconsistent pacing brought about by books that are too big for the stories they contain. Here, Franchini does a great job avoiding lulls in the story with fluff that serves no purpose other than to meet the requisite page count.
Strongest Point(s):
The highlights of this issue are the entertaining interactions between Roby and Red and Red’s misguided choice to rescue her friend at a high cost.
Weakest Point(s):
There are two weak points in this issue, one minor and one not-so-minor. The minor downpoint is the length of the final fight due to the posturing dialog. If Venatrix is as powerful as she seems, the fight should have ended in 60 seconds or less.
The not-so-minor down point is the aforementioned stiffness in the art.

FAIRY TALE TEAM-UP: ROBYN HOOD & RED AGENT is a better-than-average team-up that finds Robyn Hood and Red Agent teaming up to resurrect a “deceased” friend. Dave Franchini makes good use of the page count, a chronic problem in previous Team-Ups, to keep the story moving, and the art is solid.
