Is ETERNAL WARRIOR: SCORCHED EARTH Good?
In ETERNAL WARRIOR: SCORCHED EARTH, Gilad ventures into the fiery dimension called The Scorch, seeking answers about Raze. Meanwhile, Tama, with babysitter Armstrong in tow, uses her powers to combat the wildfires, gaining unwanted fame as an “eco-influencer.” Both storylines converge as Raze, freed in an unconventional way, threatens the Great Burn. Can Gilad and Tama, despite their differences, stop him? The fate of Earth hangs in the balance!
What We Liked In ETERNAL WARRIOR: SCORCHED EARTH:
- Family Drama: The dynamic between Gilad and Tama is compelling. Seeing their overprotective father-daughter struggle adds a relatable layer, even if their circumstances are far from ordinary. Armstrong’s involvement as a surrogate uncle adds humor and highlights different parenting styles.
- High Stakes: Raze’s return and the threat of the Great Burn raise the stakes dramatically. Gilad’s unconventional solution keeps things interesting, leaving room for future adventures.
- Jumping-On Point: New readers can easily grasp the characters’ motivations and the story’s world, making this a solid entry point for the Valiant universe.
What We Didn’t Like In ETERNAL WARRIOR: SCORCHED EARTH:
- Teenage Stereotypes: Tama’s portrayal as a stereotypical teenager can be grating, especially when her actions expose herself and others to danger. It clashes with her role as the Geomancer and feels out of character.
- Heavy-Handed Message: The environmental message, while relevant, becomes heavy-handed and drags the pacing in conversations between Tama and her friends or Armstrong.
Art Quality:
Taracido’s art shines in action sequences, delivering dynamic battles with the Eternal Warrior. Tama’s geomancer abilities are also visually engaging. However, Beredo’s coloring falters. While the palette works, the overdone highlights clash with the surrounding shadows, creating inconsistencies that disrupt the visuals.

ETERNAL WARRIOR: SCORCHED EARTH delivers a solid adventure for fans, but newcomers can easily jump in, too. The pacing is mostly good, the stakes are high, and character development is generally well-done. However, some writing rough spots exist, and the art has its inconsistencies.
