Is Duke #4 Good?
In “DUKE #3,” we witnessed Duke’s capture by the Joes, his conflict with his loyalty to the government, and his unlikely alliance with the Baroness. The issue culminated in a showdown with Major Bludd’s forces, leaving us on the edge of our seats.
In “DUKE #4,” Duke and the Baroness find themselves in a tight spot, surrounded by Cobra forces. Despite their differences, they must work together to escape. As they navigate through abandoned vehicles and face off against Major Bluddd, Duke remains determined to reach his destination and confront the mysterious energy source.
For clarification, “DUKE #4” connects to the broader Energon Universe, but there are no robotic cameos in this issue. While no Transformers make an appearance, Duke’s motivation from encountering a Decepticon in a previous issue still drives the narrative forward.

The issue delivers on action and pacing, providing readers with a thrilling ride through the GI Joe universe. The artwork and colors enhance the intensity of the scenes, immersing readers in the battle against Cobra.
What didn’t we like about DUKE #4?
Despite the adrenaline-fueled action, “DUKE #4” falls into a familiar pattern, where Duke faces challenges only to overcome them without significant plot development. While enjoyable, it lacks the wow factor that keeps readers eagerly anticipating the next issue.
How’s the Art?
Tom Reilley’s art and Jordie Bellaire’s colors bring the GI Joe universe to life with dynamic visuals and explosive action sequences. The attention to detail in character design and background settings adds depth to the storytelling.
