Is It Good?
Okay, timeout. What’s happening here? When you read a comic, there’s an unspoken expectation that you’re going to get, at the very minimum, industry-quality art and a story starring the titular character(s). DISNEY VILLAINS: MALEFICENT #3 meets only one of those two expectations.
When last we left Maleficent, she dealt with a nasty prince who came looking for his nastier brother whom Maleficent made short work of in issue #1. Now, Maleficent sends her trusty raven to scout the woods to ensure the nasty prince isn’t planning a reprisal. And that’s it.
No, that’s not an exaggeration. Within a 21-page comic, you get nineteen pages of a raven flying over the woods. The bird encounters a testy bobcat who’s miffed over losing out on a rabbit meal after the raven interrupts the hunt, but the raven discovers nothing else. Maleficent is only in the issue long enough to give the bird its mission and welcome it back on its return, having found nothing.
Does the art look good? No, it looks great. There’s no quarrel with Soo Lee over the art, but if you wanted a nineteen-page portfolio showing a raven in various flight poses, that’s all you’re going to get.

Check out our DISNEY VILLAINS: MALEFICENT #2 review to find out how Maleficent dealt with a disagreeable prince.
We begin with Maleficent wondering if the prince she chased off in the last issue is really gone, so she sends her raven on a scouting mission. The raven flies around the Dark Woods, looking for any signs of the prince, pausing just long enough to stop a rabbit from getting eaten by a bobcat.
The bobcat makes several attempts at capturing the raven in retaliation. The raven flies home. The end.

Final Thoughts
(Click this link 👇 to order this comic)
DISNEY VILLAINS: MALEFICENT #3 is a bizarre entry in the series because it’s nothing but a raven flying around the Dark Woods for nineteen pages to search for intruders. There’s no story, no plot, and except for the art, no reason to buy this comic.
