Is DEAD KINGDOM (VOL. 2) #3 Good?
In the previous issue, we witnessed Alice and her husband facing a relentless army of the undead. Just when things seemed bleak, Alice revealed a mysterious power linked to an amulet around her neck. She single-handedly obliterated the zombie horde, leaving everyone astonished. The bombshell dropped as Alice confessed to being a descendant of the magical kingdom called Khotaras.
Dead Kingdom (Vol. 2) #3 unfolds as an extensive flashback to the ancient history of Khotaras, unraveling the magical lineage of Alice. Picture a magical kingdom, brimming with elves resembling beings of ethereal beauty. Their advanced, sci-fi-like society thrived on blue crystals, wielded only by the wise and capable. However, beneath the gleaming surface lay a dark truth—elves enslaved to mine these crystals, creating a stark class divide.
As oppression reached unbearable heights, a rebellion ignited. One elf, fueled by rage, stumbled upon a forbidden red crystal, granting him dark powers. The rebellion faced defeat, but the leader, using the red crystal, transformed into a monstrous figure with the ability to raise the dead. The once utopian Khotaras crumbled in the face of this undead army. In a last-ditch effort, wise elders sacrificed their power to banish the dark elf, shattering Khotaras in the process.
Khotaras, a magical kingdom millennia old, housed elves with distinct features, from pointy ears to gleaming everything. The intricate societal structure, reliant on blue crystals, added layers to the narrative. The rebellion’s use of red crystals not only showcased forbidden power but also led to the creation of an unstoppable undead army, akin to a virus spreading through Khotaras.

Honestly, there’s little to nitpick here. The storytelling, the scale, and the efficiency of tying loose ends make this a compelling read. However, a minor quibble surfaces—the lack of a name for the dark elf leader and a glimpse into his motivations in the present.
