Is COBRA COMMANDER #3 Good?
Cobra Commander and his Cobra-La bodyguard made their way down into the Florida swamps looking for a collection of Energon energy. Cobra Commander firmly believes that the Energon energy could have vast amounts of value that could build armies and super weapons. He separates from his bodyguard and finds the source of the Energon, but gets pulled down by Energon-infused alligators.
In Cobra Commander #3, the Dreadnoks meet in their swamp cabin hideout where Zarana unveils a big cube of Energon, declaring their plans to level up. Zandar, Zarana’s brother, breaks in with Cobra Commander in chains, leading to a lengthy montage of torture and interrogation.
During the interrogation, Cobra Commander remains resilient and starts manipulating the Dreadnoks subtly. At the end, he triggers a signal leading to a confrontation outside where his bodyguard intervenes. The bodyguard, revealing himself to be Nemesis Enforcer, sets up an intriguing twist for the next issue.
The issue is filled with cameos, particularly the last one featuring Nemesis Enforcer, a G1 character from Cobra-La, adding a cool, nostalgic twist for fans.

What did we like about COBRA COMMANDER #3?
The issue impressively showcases Cobra Commander’s resilience and cunning. Despite enduring a brutal interrogation, he remains steadfast, refusing to yield even a hint of weakness. This portrayal elevates Cobra Commander from a mere villain to a formidable adversary, adding depth to his character. Additionally, the last-minute reveal of Nemesis Enforcer injects a surge of excitement and nostalgia, particularly for fans familiar with G1 characters.
What didn’t we like about COBRA COMMANDER #3?
While the prolonged interrogation scene serves to highlight Cobra Commander’s toughness, it monopolizes a significant portion of the comic, overshadowing other elements of the plot. The relentless barrage of violence and torture, while integral to the narrative, becomes somewhat monotonous and may test the patience of readers. The scene’s extended duration detracts from the opportunity to explore other facets of the story, leaving some plot threads feeling underdeveloped.
How’s the Art?
The artwork in Cobra Commander #3 by Andrea Milana and Annalisa Leoni effectively captures the gritty atmosphere of the story. The character designs are solid, with recognizable traits that stay true to their iconic appearances. Milana’s linework and Leoni’s colors combine to create a visually cohesive aesthetic that suits the tone of the narrative. However, while the art adequately serves its purpose, it lacks the intricacy and detail that could truly elevate it to greatness. Some panels feel somewhat rushed, with less attention given to background elements and finer details. Despite these shortcomings, the art remains functional and complements the storytelling, though a higher level of refinement could enhance the overall visual experience.
