Is It Good?
Well, okay. CHERISH #3 goes a long way toward clarifying details of Cherish’s revenge mission, her relationship with Chaya, and the particulars of her wedding to Connor, glimpsed in the first issue. In other words, the pieces are starting to come together, making this issue the most enjoyable read of the series so far.
When Katana Collins takes the time to fill in the missing and/or disconnected pieces, the story takes on a new level of clarity. Clarity will always be King, so that’s why this issue is the best in the series to date. We learn how Chaya and Cherish first met and the terrible circumstances which bonded them. We see how Connor transitioned from a useful contact into something more for Cherish. And the mystery behind some of the targets in Cherish’s revenge quest deepens when we find out the mystery assassin from issue #1 is known to Chaya.
That said, filling in the pieces now, versus starting with a clear story from the beginning, is both a blessing and a curse. If new readers jump into the series here, they’ll be completely lost because of the disjointed approach to the plot. It’s like eating a pizza by starting in the middle of the pie. You’ll finish it eventually, and it all goes down the same, but you’ll probably have an awkward time finishing it.
The story pieces may come together awkwardly, but the art is just dandy. Caitano’s fight choreography and figure work are excellent, and Ramalante Jr’s colors are outstanding. Visually, this is a great issue.

Check out our CHERISH #2 review to find out how Cherish picked up an assassin on her tail.
We begin mid-cliffhanger as Cherish runs across a city bridge with an assassin’s car heading straight for her. Cherish manages to barely escape, but not before she finds out Chaya knows the assassin but is unwilling to discuss the matter.
Later, Cherish decides to enter into a romantic relationship with Connor, against Garrett’s advice. The relationship soon blossoms into something deeper, leading Connor to make the ultimate commitment.
Meanwhile, Cherish’s undercover job as an administrative assistant leads to a chance encounter with the man who killed her father. We conclude the issue with ten fingers minus one, new targets, and the head of the snake.

CHERISH #3 is one of the better, if not the best, issues in the series so far. The action is great, the plot reveals a lot about the missing pieces of the story from the first issue, and the arc’s momentum is picking up steam.
