Is It Good?
THE BREAKER (VOL. 4) OMNIBUS is a high-kicking, bone-crunching, fist-pumping martial arts action story sure to send your blood pressure through the roof. Borrowing elements from The Raid: Redemption (2011) and Game of Death (1978), Chun-woo must survive a gauntlet to put an end to the Clan Union leaders and save Si-woon’s life.
When last we left Si-woon (see the (Vol. 3) Omnibus, he was on the run from a closing circle of Clan Union forces. Now, Chun-woo, the fabled Nine-Door Dragon, has no choice but to confront the Clan Union head-on to avenge his Master and save Si-woon.
Jeon Geuk-Jin’s story is the quintessential hero’s journey mixed with elements of honor and revenge. The Nine-Door’s Dragon legend expands when you see and hear how the assembled Clan members speak about him with a mix of awe, reverence, and fear. The comments and facial expressions of the side characters do just as much to reinforce the Nine-Door Dragon’s presence as he does through his martial arts prowess.
Of course, this wouldn’t be a martial arts Manhwa if there wasn’t a copious amount of martial arts. Park Jin-Hwan’s action scenes are glorious. Bodies fly, kicks and punches speed through the air with dizzying power, and again, the character acting is slickly engaging.

What’s It About?

Check out our THE BREAKER (VOL. 3) OMNIBUS review to find out how the Clan Union identified Si-woon and set a citywide trap.
We begin with Si-Ho frantically driving Chun-woo, aka Nine-Door Dragon, out of the city. Meanwhile, an unconscious Si-woon is carried into a waystation by Kang. Kang calls the Clan Union to give them the good news. Soon a car shows up to collect Si-Woon, but Kang soon discovers the car is driven by allies of Mung-gi, honor-bound to pay back Si-woon’s mercy from the previous fight.
The Clan Union realize they’re quickly losing control of the situation, so they set a trap by broadcasting they’ve captured Si-woon, hoping Chun-woo will come after them. Chun-woo figures out it’s a trap, but he goes to the meeting location anyway, motivated by the need to take revenge on the Clan Union for the death of his Master.
We conclude the Omnibus with converging enemies and allies, a building designed to be a trap, and a final showdown.
