Was It Good?
It’s a well-written, creature feature, mystery story. Therefore, it’s good for what it is, but the only down point is that it really doesn’t feel like a Bettie Page story.
Aside from the look of the character and some of the dialog, this comic increasingly feels like a straight-up monster movie, and not even a B-movie because the “effects” are better than anything from that time period. None of the qualities of the main character feel as if you’re reading a story starring Bettie Page.
Again, that doesn’t make it bad. It simply lacks a uniquely Bettie Page quality to the story. That aside, the story is a great example of a monster mystery, and I had a great time reading it.

As a bonus, the art is also great in this issue. Morales and the team put together an entertaining collection of character designs, especially the main monster.

What’s It About?
[SPOILERS AHEAD – Click here if you just want the score without spoilers]
We pick up with Bettie all alone and face-to-face with the Legendary Banshee. See our BETTIE PAGE: CURSE OF THE BANSHEE #1 review to see how she got into this pickle.
Bettie fires her pistol at the apparition without effect, and it moves within striking distance. Suddenly, the Banshee flies off without a clear reason why.
Lyssa finds the stunned Bettie, and they go off together to find Maire. They find her, all right, and she’s quite dead; impaled on a fallen tree.
Later, Lysss and Bettie head to the local hall of records to find out more about this Banshee. Mooney does a fine job explaining the origins behind the myth without turning the book into a history lecture. The history montage works within the art style and it makes the learning a good read.
Still later, Bettie and Lyssa work their way through a series of local legend experts until they get the final word on the Banshee — there is no known way to kill or stop it.
Without much to go on, Bettie and Lyssa head to the morgue to search for clues around the bodies. That’s when they discover the bodies have vanished. Not moved. Not destroyed. Vanished.
On their way out of the morgue, our fine heroes are met by the ruffinas they tussled within the local pub from the first issue. Our slightly drunk friends are looking for a little payback and another fight starts. The police show up to break it up and arrest everyone involved.
Eventually, Lyssa and Bettie are released when the police chief learns they’re there on assignment, and to make up for the trouble, he gives them the location of a recent sighting of one of the missing corpses in the nearby hills.
We conclude the issue with Bettie and Lyssa taking a late-night drive.
How Does It End?
The hills make noises. Some caves are not natural. The mystery of the missing bodies is solved… sorta.
Final Thoughts
BETTIE PAGE: CURSE OF THE BANSHEE #2 takes readers on a wild ride with monsters, rumbles, and secret caves. Despite the lack of anything that feels like a Bettie Page comic, this was a fun read.
Score: 8.5/10
