Was It Good?
Hmm. Interesting. The first issue of this series started with a pair of low-ranked drones intervening in a monster hunt when one of the monsters turns out to be a slightly-less-than-human victim. In ALL GUTS, NO GLORY #2, protagonists-on-the-run are showing signs this story may turn out to be a fairly unique love story.
This isn’t the first time Zenecope would dabble in a supernatural horror/romance mashup. They did it in 2021 with their successful Possessive series, and despite some tonal inconsistency, that series turned out well. ALL GUTS, NO GLORY #2 improves on the tonal inconsistencies of Possessive and creates a potent mix of action, monsters, and surprisingly good character chemistry.
The highlight of Tedesco’s writing is how naturally he voices the characters. Jimmy and Sara develop a quick rapport that flows as smooth as silk. To be clear, this issue isn’t all about Sara and Jimmy. There’s plenty of gun-toting action, moms fangirling over an over-the-hill teen idol that’s hilariously awkward, and high school bully shenanigans to get your blood pumping.
You can’t pull off a comic like this without some top-notch art, and this creative team shows off talent and more to spare. The character designs are great, Pereyra’s colors are excellent, and although we usually don’t have much to say about lettering, Esposito makes interesting creative choices with the dialog for the character of Terry that are truly impressive.

What’s It About?
[SPOILERS AHEAD – Click here if you just want the score without spoilers]
If you’re not sure how to cleaners and a half-vampire wound up in a speeding van, first read our ALL GUTS, NO GLORY #1 review.
We begin with Jimmy, Craig, and Sara speeding away from their confrontation with the hunters. Craig and Jimmy discuss what to do while Sara is suckling on a severed hand in the backseat. When the guys snap Sara out of her blood-crazed stupor, they ask her to remember what happened before she was bitten to track down the main vampire. In a flashback, we learn the real vampire is a past-his-prime ten idol singer named Kurt Julius.
Later, Jimmy and Sara are dropped off at Jimmy’s school so he doesn’t miss his presentation assignment. Craig uses the opportunity to go back to his home for supplies and weapons.
The last third of the issue sees Craig dealing with unexpected visitors, Craig paying an old friend a visit, Sara and Jimmy dealing with High School strife, and Jimmy confronting a semi-famous visitor.

Final Thoughts
ALL GUTS, NO GLORY #2 is a fun second chapter in the horror/action/romance mashup mini-series from Zenescope. The dialog and plot flow is incredibly organic and natural, the action is intense, the romance is surprisingly sweet, and the few jokey parts all land. If part 3 has the same level of quality, the entire run is a winner.
