Comical Opinions exists to satisfy two gaps in the current market of Comics Reviews & Journalism
- To provide a space where comics consumers can read reviews of comics from small- to mid-size to indie comics publishers without any fear that the reviews are slanted to act as marketing for the publisher under review. Every publisher is informed upfront their submissions will be reviewed critically but fairly. Our readership – people who spend their hard-earned money and time on consuming comics – have peace of mind knowing they get a fair assessment for FREE.
- To provide a place where small- to mid-sized to indie publishers can receive exposure for their comics. The current comics journalism landscape is almost entirely focused on the Top 4 publishers, leaving little room to talk about great comics from alternative sources. Comical Opinions’s mission is to shine a spotlight on good comics, regardless of the publisher. To us, good storytelling is where you find it.
Addressing these gaps is our top priority. We do not accept payments, gifts, or quid-pro-quo arrangements from any publisher to ensure there is no chance of a conflict of interest. Instead, our continuation relies on receiving funding through reader memberships, affiliate revenue, and advertisers just like you.
Comical Opinions – Our Audience
First and foremost, the Comical Opinions reader is the Average Jane or Average Joe who purchases and reads comics because they love the medium. Our reviews are written in a conversational tone as though we’re speaking to a friend who asks our very favorite question – “Is this comic any good?”
By design, our reviews are not written to be read by the publishers, creators, or colleagues in comics journalism. Our focus is singular and clear.

We accept arrangements from all advertisers that have a similar product audience to the one described above. However, to maintain the standards of credibility and respectability for Comical Opinions, we do not accept advertiser arrangements in the following areas.
- Pornography
- Political parties, causes, or organizations
- Comics publishers
- Drugs (legal or otherwise)
- Non-FDA approved supplements
- Vaping or cigarettes (cigars and cigar accessories are allowed)
